Online in Alberta
Great Northern Casino and Playing Online
Online play is a separate thing from a night at the casino on 107 Avenue, with its own rules and its own regulators. This page sets out how Alberta arranges it, in plain terms, for readers across the Peace Country.

The market
Who runs online gaming in Alberta
Alberta's regulated online gaming market opened on July 13, 2026. It is managed by the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) and regulated by AGLC. Any online operator must meet two conditions: registration with AGLC and an operating agreement signed with AiGC. When the market launched, 22 registered sites had approval.
There is a boundary built into the rules. A registered online operator may only let in players who are physically inside Alberta. That matters for readers who come to Grande Prairie from across the provincial line. Dawson Creek, 110.1 km from the casino in a straight line, and Fort St. John, at 174.2 km, both sit in British Columbia. Someone at home in either town is outside the Alberta market.
Checking
Looking up an operator
A list of registered iGaming sites is maintained by AiGC at abigaming.ca. Any operator missing from that list is not regulated in Alberta. Operators with approval display the AiGC logo, and the list is the place to verify it.
The province has its own online gaming site at playalberta.ca, called Play Alberta. It is operated by AGLC, and the revenue it brings in goes to the Government of Alberta. The room at 10910 107 Avenue is somewhere you travel to, not a site you open.
Self-exclusion
Self-exclusion that reaches online sites
Self-exclusion through AGLC can only be arranged online, at selfexclusion.ca. The person decides on the scope: regulated online gaming, Alberta casinos together with racing entertainment centres, or both. The length is set at six months, a year, two years or three years.
It begins at once. Once in place, it cannot be cut short before the chosen term runs out. Choosing both means a single request covers the casino floor in Grande Prairie and the registered sites alike.
This guide
Where the guide's income comes from
Grande Prairie Casino Roadbook is an independent guide that accepts no bets and holds no accounts. Paid links show up only on the home page, each labelled Ad: a header button, one block after the roads section and one close to the end. The guide earns a commission from them, and the partner behind them may change.
They open a private online casino. It is not Play Alberta, and neither AGLC nor the Alberta iGaming Corporation runs it. It has nothing to do with Great Northern Casino or Wild Horse. This guide does not say the partner is registered in Alberta. Any operator can be checked in the AiGC directory.
